Fear of the Tortured Souls

For the last few weeks our country has been wrestling with the issue of torture. It comes as no surprise that many people have succumbed to the inherent fears that have replaced our moral integrity. It's really unfortunate, that the Grand Children of the Great Generation, have lacked the courage of their ancestors. You know the generation that lived through the Great Depression and World War II. Arguably the greatest single generation in modern history.
Yet, here we are the grandchildren of what made this world a better place, whimpering at the faintest sign of terrorist activity. Cowering to the ideological maniacs that responded with Spanish Inquisition inspired interrogation. Water boarding, sodomizing, raping and sleep deprivation of the most extreme manner possible. Inflicting severe criminal activities on everyone they encountered, Men, Women and Children alike.

I'm not sure how many of you feel, but we should all be ashamed of ourselves for allowing the corruption of our moral integrity to occur. Has the belief in truth, justice and the so called American way failed to register with the collective whole of humanity. Can we willingly accept that our beliefs have eroded beyond repair.
Have we finally sold our Souls for financial gain? In the past, we would have rallied around our collective conscious, and questioned authority. Now we allow the question to persist without answer. We are the country that challenged equal rights for women, that freed the indentured servant(Slave), that gave education to all and last but not least freed women to determine the health of their own bodies in pregnancy.

Aren't we ashamed of our actions, aren't we upset with our leaders? Who are we to determine the oligarchy of other countries, if we can't even demand humanity of our elected politicians. What kind of scam are we enabling, what are we demanding of our children? Are we willing to leave the next generation with a legacy of shame. If we do, what will become of them? It's my greatest hope that we will rise up from our apparent slumber and vociferously demand that our government correct this injustice. It's not who I, or you, was raised to be! We are better than this, we are Americans. Land of the Brave, home of the Free. In America, we do not Torture, not even the Soulless few.
